Fleet-Wood Dancentre Inc.
School of Dance
Cecchetti Society of Canada
In 1994, Sharron Fleet and Jane Wooding joined forces opening Fleet-Wood Dancentre; offering dance classes in ballet, pointe and jazz. Eventually, Fleet-Wood added many different dance styles including modern, contemporary, musical theatre, acro, hip-hop and tap. Fleet-wood has taught thousands of students through our recreational program, pre-professional program and competition program.
In 1999, Fleet-Wood was awarded the Robert Kemp Award, which funded all the costumes used for The Nutcracker. These costumes have been stored safely and continue to be used for Nutcracker performances today. Fleet-Wood organizes an amazing ballet every other year. December 2024, will mark our 19th Nutcracker performance.
In 2013, Fleet-Wood expanded into dance competitions. Our team has received special awards, overalls and high marks. Our competition team attends two local competitions and travels to one competition. Our competition students have also gone on to National competitions.
Fleet-Wood is a School of Dance with The Cecchetti Society of Canada, teaching the Cecchetti Method of ballet and preparing dancers for ballet exams. We are also certified with Acrobatic Arts, providing a safe environment for students to learn new acro steps.
We are proud of being honoured with the Inaugural Arts and Culture Award recognizing our history of preparing dancers for professional dance. We have had many students graduate from our pre-professional program and to attend post-secondary dance programs.
